The Golden Triangle - Rajasthan

After many weeks on my world tour through New Zealand, Japan, Thailand, and Cambodia, I arrived in smoggy Delhi. Met my travel agent Rishi and arranged my tour through Rajasthan - the Golden Triangle.
This tour covered a few days in Delhi to tour the Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb, the Bahai Lotus Temple
Then a road trip to Pushkar, a holy city on the edge of the Thar desert. Pushkar surrounds a lake and is a sacred Hindu site with 52 ghats where pilgrims come to bathe, perform puja and receive a blessing. The steps are filthy so wear socks.

Then on to Jaipur to see the Pink City, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal.
An early rise in Jaipur and a short drive to the town of Amer - to hike to the Amber Fort and on up to the Jaighar Fort. As with much of Rajasthan, the Muslims of the Mughal empire built beautiful buildings.

A stop at Fatehpur Sikri is definitely worth it. Built by Akbar the great in 1569, it contains the Jama Masjid mosque.

Then on to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, a World Heritage …

Rishikesh

After returning to Delhi, I flew to Dehradun in the north, met my ride and off to Anand Prakash Ashram in Rishikesh for 10 days of yoga and meditation.

An amazing place,  Rishikesh (means "forest of yogis") is one of the original homes of yoga and hosts yogis from all over the world to learn and practice. The Beatles stayed at an ashram on the south side of the river back in the 60's.

There is much to see and do in India. Rajasthan is just a small but beautiful part of this incredible country, rich in culture and tradition. I can't wait to return again!
